UPDATE August 29, 2024: after several weeks of stand still, today GoDaddy has finally restored access in the matter described below. No apologies made.----I am an IT technician who works on several non-profit projects. Because I have good experiences with GoDaddy with my own personal websites, I recommended them to host the website of a large regional not for profit organisation five years ago. For 4 years, I was the administrator and all went well. Any problems I had were swiftly solved by the GoDaddy techteam.Not so recently. About a year ago I handed over the job to a volunteer, who, due to unexpected circumstances, lost access to her authenticator app. Which meant she no longer had access to GoDaddy support, because her GoDaddy account was protected by 2 factor authentication.I understand that GoDaddy executes great caution in restoring access in such situations, keeping in mind how many hackers and ransom criminals are active. But I am very disappointed in the fact that it took weeks, with the only communication done via a single unsigned email per day, before the issue was resolved. It was clear that a rigid protocol was followed. But whatever answers were provided in reply to these emails: they did not seem to matter. The same emails were received over and over, several valid IDs of those involved with the GoDaddy account were provided, those involved offered to hop on Zoom or be available by telephone: whatever they offered was deemed unsatisfactory. The tech team would not even accept our support calls, no names of other staff to contact in any way were provided. The organisation held them hostage for weeks. This is totally unacceptable!Although they could administer their website, no update of plugins, and Wordpress software were done for the linked website, because, what if some of those actions were to make the websites crash? They would have no recourse, no support whatsoever. In that way, GoDaddy actively added to the vulnerability of this website!I work in IT and I have never treated my customer base like this. These days, there are so many options to verify identities. Powerplay and withholding service is what I call it.So if you are looking for a hosting provider: be cautious who you chose!Signed by an extremely disappointed customer...
