The support was great. All my questions were answered and even more, Helmut gave the extra mile so that I made my choice with all the information needed.

AVOID if you value your private data!Negligence and privacy violations, never mind the incompetence dealing with support. Hostgator has made my billing information public, after registering a domain with them, opening me up to a litany of calls and spam from international numbers. Hostgator support has confirmed that publishing billing information of the client was *NOT* an ICANN nor CIRA requirement, but was done as part of Hostgator's internal policies.Seeking an amicable resolution, perused this issue n via Online chat, 17 emails, 10+ Support Agents, escalation through T1 and T2 support. Received nothing but utter dismissal, incompetence and complete disregard for any due diligence. I can provide emails and conversation history as evidence of this negligent and dismissive behavior. No doubt they will reply to this message with another completely automated and generic response, not even give this review a shred of their attention.Hostgator is a complete joke and its support an insult to their customers.14 days later my phone and email are still exploding with spam calls.Edit:Exactly as predicted, Hostgator provides a factually-incorrect, generic response without giving this review time a day. After 17 emails your team has failed to provide even a single statement in Who Is, ICANN or CIRA requirements where *BILLING* information was to be disclosed. Your team in chat has admitted that this was NOT ICANN, CIRA nor WHOIS policy and done at Hostgator's discretion solely. Additionally I have provided dozens .CA Canadian business domains who do not use WHOIS privacy protection, do not disclose their billing info and are CIRA, ICANN compliant. Look at any major Canadian business. You continue to talk out of your ass.You do not take privacy seriously, otherwise we would not be in this situation.

The chat support experiences have been terrible things that should take minutes and take hours. Agents often disappear for over an hour, leaving issues unresolved. Or it will take an hour just for the agent to ask me a question. I recently needed help with something as simple as centering a header image, but I was transferred three times over a span of two hours. It took so long that I had to give up and go to bed without any resolution. I’ve also had recurring issues where chat agents disappear for an hour, only to ultimately not help me and transfer me again.

I hosted a bunch of website on Hostgator when I was working as an agency. Since then, the agency closed so I had to move each website to its own individual Hostgator account. It's been nothing short of a nightmare. Their support is not helpful most of the time, heavily relying on FAQs instead of truly taking ownership of your case. Support is not equipped to handle corner cases. The responses are very slow (up to 30 minutes wait between messages !). Also, be aware that if a domain expired and you want to move it to another Hostgator account where a hosting with free domain is included, you won't be able to move it. You will need to renew the domain, then transfer it. Essentially, paying 2x for the same thing. Hostgator do not provide good will gesture in that scenario. TLDR: If you have a "normal case", I think Hostgator is great. But if you need help with a more unique situation, you're going to have to spend hours on resolving it.

Great technician, her aswers was clear, concise and totally helpfully. My questions was about renew or create new account and she gave me the information and links to evaluate it by myself. The only bad think i can say is the time between answers, looks like she was helping too much people at same time.

Great to have the live chat with a helpful person who provided most of the information that I needed and it is useful to be able to download a copy of the chat for easy access to links and details that were provided. Many thanks!

Recently migrated an existing site to Hostgator. Mostly excellent experience. My biggest frustration as been with the AI support. For some things it is great, but getting to a live person when the AI is at the end of its rope takes quite a while. But once I had a flesh and blood person on support, I was able to get my issues resolved.

Initially support was quick to respond with a generic reason, but the 'abuse team' has been silent for 3 days now, costing the business thousands. Our business domain was suspended allegedly due to an abuse report of 'SCAM' (according to support). It was clearly a targeted fraudulent report by someone who knew this would cause an issue (we speculate a recent disgruntled ex-employee, but beside the point). This is a legitimate registered business, which accepts 6 figures of online payments yearly, exclusively through a registered Paypal business account. Documentation for the business and personal identity had been submitted immediately. There's no possibility that a scam is occurring on the domain, except for what Hostgator has themselves now caused where paying customers haven't been able to access accounts/services for 3 days. Without contact or due diligence, the domain was suspended causing extensive damages to the operations of the business.EDIT: I'm changing the review from one star to four because Hostgator did end up fixing the issue. And other than that one issue, their service and uptime is better than most hosting companies. We didn't want to change hosting and won't be now that it's resolved. But we will be adding an additional redundant domain and server elsewhere incase they try to pull something like this again. Is it Hostgators fault that somebody created a fraudulent report in order to harm an online business? No, I don't think so. But it is Hostgators fault that they:1. Suspend first and ask questions later (or not at all in this case until we contacted them)2. Take days or weeks to actually investigate a matter where time is of the essence, essentially ruining the reputation of the business by Hostgators own negligenceBut then again I think that is standard practice in this industry because it's the 'easy' way, and usually small to medium businesses won't bother to bring a legal case against them for this. My suggestions would be:1. give 24 hours notice by email, as most legitimate businesses will have same day response times2. When the documentation is then sent, look into it IMMEDIATELY. Online businesses don't have days or weeks to wait for your turtle team to get back from lunch and read an email

I.Q. Work Solution
I had a problem getting .htaccess and .htpasswd to work for my HTML and CSS website. Hostgator's automated "Kodee" assistant gave me incorrect information regarding the path I should use to reference the .htpasswd file. I asked to speak to a live representative and Ramiro came online to assist. His help was friendly, and though we had a couple of minor issues to iron out, he was able to help me get it working quickly. Very impressed with the service, and I've only deducted a star because of the considerable time wasted and frustration due to inaccurate info from "Kodee".

i was charged without accepting auto renewal payment. The have never sent un message explaining they would changer the money of my account. Even if I contacted customer service, that are very nice, they say that domain charge is not refundable. After explaining here mi case, Hostgator sent my a refund. I consider it a good customer service. However, it could help for the future customers to make all the acounts charger refundable. It would increase trust in the company.

DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR

The tools and customer service are phenomenal!!

AMIT SADANA
IT´s been good so far, except for the import of a domain from Squarespace, taht it´s been long time.

Spontom Media
Fast, convenient, elaborate and easy to understand. Highly customizable.Very responsive and rapid customer service. Queries are dealt with in an immaculate way.Although, more local integrations could definitely be made w.r.t country wise local payment methods. The unavailability of Paypal and Stripe is a major stumbling block for some markets in which Hostgator is actively operating.
