I had a fairly simple issue regarding plan features. They have an AI assistant "Kodee" handling enquiries initially. Kodee gave factually incorrect information regarding my issue, despite repeated questioning. It was just like.. 100% wrong, black and white. Thankfully Kodee didn't resist escalation to a human. The human fixed the issue immediately. My advice is : Kodee lies, and challenging it will not make it try harder. So if Kodee's advice doesn't seem right, no matter how confidently presented, escalate without hesitation.

Lost all my income with this hosting service. They offered free migration, I chose the recommended option (without backup) and now, everything is lost.Exactly on the website that gives me my whole income. The allegation that there were missing files isnt accurate, since the site worked properly before (as seen on archive.org) and then, after I updated the SQL, it will probably work.So probably, just a question of SQL update.

Absolute bunch of criminals. I made a simple mistake and clicked a button and bought a domain I did not want. They say they have a 30-day refund policy. Forget it. They found a way to wriggle out of refunding me and after 2 days of arguing they still would not refund me £14.99 for misplaced purchase!! Some complicated excuse that it wasn't their fault and despite my complaining and about 39 emails to them, begging them to simply refund me because it was a mistake and they said they had a 30-day refund policy, they would not refund me and they did not care. THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPANIES WHO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE AND ARE BETTER THAN THIS COMPANY AVOID THEM!!!

Hostgator is a scam.I bought their product for four years because of the reduced price. For one month it worked well. Then the memory usage atarted going up inexplicably and all their customer services did was to push an upsell, which I eventually got and did not resolve the issue.Their customer service is beyond insulting. It’s exclusively online. First you talk to an annoying AI. After asking about six times they put you through to human, which is just as bad if not worse than the AI. All they do is copy and paste ready-made, generic, instructions, and make you wait long periods of time.To top it all up they now refuse to talk to my web developer. They say they will only talk to the account holder. That’s me, but obviously I’m not the technical person, and therefore not the one to be having this conversation. They are extremely incompetent and plain dishonest. As a result, I have only used a four-year produce for six extremely bumpy months, and I’m migrating to a different hosting company.I am filing a civil claim in case they are not prepared to return my money

I've been a customer of this hosting service for 10 years, and while the hosting itself is generally good, their account and domain blocking system is a serious issue. This is the third time in two years that I’ve had a domain blocked for no clear reason, despite having an active payment. My current domain is fully paid until September 2025, yet it's blocked due to some vague "chargeback" issue. Each time this happens, support tells me to "check with my bank" or follow unclear steps, but the problem is clearly on their side. My bank confirms there are no chargebacks or issues, yet my account keeps getting flagged.I even asked for proof of the transaction so I could follow up with my bank, but they were unable to provide it. This is highly inconsistent and raises concerns about their process. Instead of helping resolve the issue, it feels like an unnecessary delay and a terrible customer experience. The first time, it took over a month to resolve. Now, I’m stuck dealing with the same issue all over again. I have given them the same feedback before, yet nothing has changed. Their internal processes are inconsistent, and their explanations are vague at best.If you're considering this hosting provider, be warned: their account management policies are unreliable, and they may suspend your domain even if it's fully paid.Until they fix this, I cannot recommend their service.

Four days ago, I started hosting services from the previous hosting provider to Hostgator.Account opening and payment, like on any website, went as smoothly as anyone would have hoped for. But after that, all hell broke loose.1. The active website migration tool doesn't function properly. Even though you follow all the online instructions, the most straightforward option, where you provide the WordPress login details, fails to work. It keeps prompting you to install the all-in-one migration plugin, which has already been installed and activated.2. In addition, the customer assistants, who likely work from home, appear poorly trained. They can only read prewritten scripts without considering the actual issue. It feels like the better you describe the ongoing problem, the more difficult it becomes for them to understand.3. On the third day of moving services, all my domain-linked email accounts went offline. As a result, access to my Hostgator account was restricted due to one of the emails being used to log in to the Hostgator account and the two-factor authentication method. One day before emails went inactive, I raised the concern to the customer service advisor about the potential issues with the email accounts after the website fully migrates to Hostgator. But I heard back that nothing could possibly go wrong. So I relaxed.4. Without access to the account, I was left with two options to get assistance. One was account recovery, which may take two days to complete. And the next one was to send Hostgator an email. While a two-day account recovery solution sounded harsh to me, I decided to send an email. After several emails' exchange, I was told that the only way to regain access to my account was to fill in the Hosting Account Recovery Form. So I did it. But that was not the end of bad news. For the identity authentication (that is how they named it), they asked for sensitive information like credit/debit card images, bank statements, and images from the mobile banking application. At the beginning, I refused to do so. Later, I realised I would be ignored until pictures with sensitive information were submitted. One word - unbelievable!5. I also had a very strange communication experience after emailing the team at account.Hostgator.com. For over an hour, I interacted with four Hostgator Customer Service representatives (three humans and one not particularly intelligent robot). The first was Annas, followed by a robot named Kodee and two other humans, Miguel and Carla. It felt like they jumped in at any convenient moment to them and tried to offer me advice based on whatever came to their minds first. It was one of the strangest email communications I've ever experienced.6. The frustrating reality is that Hostgator does not offer phone support for urgent customer needs. Based on my years of experience, I learned that companies without telephone support are less reliable. I now realise that the positive customer reviews primarily influenced my decision to choose Hostgator. So, I admit I made a mistake. However, I can not be the only one who struggled with Hostgator's customer service. Hence, I strongly believe that not all of the positive reviews about this company are genuine.Today marks the fourth day since I began migrating my business website, and I still haven't recovered access to my Hostgator account. My website's domain is also due to expire in two days, so I expect to face more issues in the days ahead. So here is my advice for the future Hostgator customers:- If you plan to migrate your active website to Hostgator, make sure you know what you're doing, and you'll be just fine.- If you lack knowledge or are unaware of hosting services, please avoid Hostgator. Ultimately, after several sleepless nights, you'll achieve a successful conclusion. However, there is a big chance that during that time or shortly after that, your family members will stop recognising you. It can be anything: a visual change, weird behaviour, mental disorders, you name it.- Please be prepared to spend more time seeking assistance. The telephone lines are not available, so the success of chatting or emailing will depend largely on luck. There is a low success rate for your request reaching the appropriate person. Your support request will likely land on the loafer's desk. Or, who knows, you may get lucky.I hope all the above will assist you in making a relevant decision. I trust you will choose wisely. Good luck!

I am writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with Hostgator, in hopes of informing others and urging the company to reconsider its approach towards customer service and transparency.Account Suspension Without Clear JustificationMy hosting account was abruptly suspended by Hostgator on allegations of phishing-related activities—a claim I firmly contest, as I have never engaged in any form of phishing or malicious behavior. Despite my repeated requests for a detailed explanation or concrete evidence to support this allegation, Hostgator’s responses were vague and non-specific. I was not given any clear indication of what the alleged violation entailed, leaving me with nothing but general statements and no actionable information.Withheld Domains and Refusal to Facilitate TransferBeyond the suspension, Hostgator has withheld three domain names that I purchased and paid for in full, along with other related services. Despite my requests to transfer these domains to another registrar (e.g., alsmsar.com), Hostgator has refused to provide the necessary authorization codes (EPP codes) or any means to recover my domains. This decision has significantly impacted my ability to maintain an online presence and has resulted in operational and financial losses.Lack of Response from Higher ManagementIn an effort to resolve this issue, I escalated my concerns by directly contacting Hostgator’s CEO, Mr. Daugirdas Jankus, and the Chairman, Mr. Arnas Stuopelis. Unfortunately, I received no response from either of them. Copies of the communications I sent to these executives are attached as part of my documentation. Their lack of response has only compounded my frustration and disappointment.Impact on My BusinessThe abrupt suspension of my account, coupled with the withholding of my domains and services, has caused significant disruptions to my business. I lost access to essential data and my websites, which has damaged my professional reputation and resulted in operational setbacks. I was more than willing to cooperate with any investigation or to take corrective measures if given a fair chance; however, Hostgator’s decision was made unilaterally and without proper dialogue.Final ThoughtsI believe that every customer deserves clear communication and transparency, especially when serious actions like account suspension and service withdrawal are involved. My experience with Hostgator has been extremely unsatisfactory, and I would caution potential customers to carefully consider these issues before committing to their services. I sincerely hope that Hostgator will revisit its policies to ensure that cases like mine are handled with the fairness and professionalism that customers rightfully expect.I share this review in the hope of encouraging positive change and better customer support practices within the web hosting industry.

I have never been scammed this bad before :-( I wanted to upgrade my Google WS through my Hostgator account, but instead of upgrading my existing account, I by mistake "bought" a new subscription. When I found out the mistake and wanted to correct it, the response from Hostgator was that a refund was not possible and I could just buy a new upgrade for my account. So the "wrong" upgrade was lost and I lost $149.So just to be clear here, I wasn't cancelling or making them loose money, just pressed the wrong button and tough luck bro... WTF!!!Can't recommend someone this strict and money hungry

Most incompetent group of people working, they do give you a feature which is good and a few days later its gone, for instance there was a feature in the Hostgator web builder to show related products on the product page - gone removed and their excuse we are making space for better features which never came to replace it, second they had a feature ti duplicate a website data including everything (prducts) however they removed it because that was something which worked for user!

I joined Hostgator yesterday. They have just made mistake after mistake after mistake. After talking to Lilis in customer support for hours she assured me it was all fixed and when I check today the migration will be complete. It’s not I have been on hold for 2 hours with shifa now getting no feedback since she told me it would take 10-15 minutes. So I contacted them via Facebook. They said let me take 10 minutes to look into it . They get back to me and say as I’m talking to live support ( shifa) wait for her. So I’m getting absolutely no where with any of these people . Not a single update. But a 30 page website gone. Cheap they are. And I now see why.So after a day on hold basically. They were then looking at the entirely wrong website. So now we start again. The websites have totally different names , it’s embarrassing for them.Edit after 26 hours and over 200 messages I was asked ‘what are you asking us to do’, the first person who I dealt with never listened and gave bad advice causing this problem. He was too rushed and clearly not paying attention. Then as more and more people got involved it became like Chinese whispers. So whilst this question was infuriating it was the right question to ask. Then after all the chaos, it was resolved in minutes, literally. 31 hours of back and forth and fixed. The main issue is communication, people didn’t read the earlier customer supports conversation and after 3/4 people had been involved the initial question and problem was lost. Frustrating. But fixed Edit againAPPARENTLY NOT FIXEDthe website is migrated to Hostgator but still not live. Last night a manager contacted me as a result of this review. Rahma she understands my frustration blah blah blah and will personally check it all. I wake up today , no further messages and it’s still not working. An absolute joke of a company. So for the 3rd day running ( and I have only had the account 3 days ) I am on hold again.FINALLY STRAWSo having spoken to so many people in customer support that I am lapping them I’m back with Shifa. The website goes live yay a few pages are missing and some photos but I can fix that. Now however people can’t view it because the security certificate is wrong.Absolute incompetence, they have one job, one and they just can’t do it
