I made a mistake and deleted my account so I called on September 3 to get help. They said in 72 hours I would be up and running which did not happen. I had to make 4 phone calls to get help. The support department had asked me for an another email so I could reset my password. That department asked me for identification drivers license wasn’t good enough than sent passport. What really irritated me was when they asked for id for a fictitious email address. There is no person by that name then they made me send my husband’s information then after I sent my husband’s information then they say now take a selfie with your ID. It was getting very frustrating. It took me from September 3 to September. 17th to get the problem resolved I just didn’t understand why I had to go through the hoops of so much ID I had this account for over 20 years. Who else is going to use the name I’m buying the name. I am happy now I have my accounts all back and all my information.

As a web developer I use many hosting/domain companies and I always warn my clients against using Namecheap. They prey on un-savvy people to upsell them on unnecessary products - I have had so many clients paying 4x as much as they need to b/c Namecheap has sold them additional, unnecessary products. Now that they have launched their premium support product, their standard support has gone down hill significantly. This company is fine for domains and email, but I would NEVER use for hosting. Many better options out there.

I had Smartline for years and it worked, not well, but it worked. Namecheap decided to move everybody to Conversations. I questioned them extensively as to whether I was going to lose any data and I was assured repeatedly that everything would move over. NOPE! I have lost years of customer information and Namecheap customer service doesn't have a clue what is going on. I have been on the phone or texting with them for over seven hours and I get a different story from every person I speak with. I will be looking for another alternative.
