Data taken hostage by Namecheap service without notice. Received an email Sunday 20:30pm, blocked Monday 9am. Not good for business. Apparently for ID verification. ID is provided in less than 10 minutes, then they go silent for two days now counting. No help from customer service, no help from privacy officer, no help from verification office. A total waste of time and reputation in front of clients. If they need data, they can request it upon account setup or kindly comply with their own timings. AVOID like the plague. Edit: JM from Namecheap claims below to have sent an email, not really. A Trustpilot form asked for the customer number, mentioning that otherwise the review will be deleted by Namecheap. They got the number immediately, of course. No further contact from anyone, just silence.Edit2: Namecheap has resorted to ask for payment card details in pictures via email. The banking app doesn't even allow this (!), although I could share an official payment receipt.

Having had a benign experience of what I thought was a quite good internet company on and off over the past few years, i am now firmly of the opinion that Namecheap are not the customer focused entity they pretend to be. I subscribed to their domain auction service around two years ago, paid the annual subscription forgetting to uncheck the default checked auto renewal box and went ahead in preparing a domain name for auction. What I didn't realise - and I have no record of any requirement of this on Namecheap terms and conditions - was that before auctioning off a domain you apparently have to verify your identity. Normally you would think if a credit card payment had been made and identity checks made at that stage, then further ID validation to actually partake in services was unnecessary. Regardless, time went on, no offers were received for my domain name and I thought no one was interested. then I enquired this year about the auto renewal that had occurred without my express permission. I found at that stage Namecheap hadn't provided any auction services because I had not had my identity validated. Further, they were no going to refund me my payment for year one of auction 'services' and they were definitely not going to refund me the auto renewal for auction services this year that again hadn't been provided because I had not sent additional ID documents. The words voracious American predator come to mind - although this may be a little too severe. However I would not recommend this company. there are may internet companies out there who are probably friendlier, more customer focused. And another thing, I tried to close my account online - and I was told I can't do that. I have to telephone customer service and have the inconvience of doing so and having to provide more ID. the following metaphores come to mind: Quicksand – Looks harmless at first, but once you're in, it's a struggle to escape. Trap / Honey trap – Something enticing that lures you in, but with hidden consequences or difficulty getting out.Hotel California (pop culture reference) – From the Eagles song: “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Or even Roach motel (from advertising lingo) – "Roaches check in, but they don’t check out." Used in tech and business for platforms or ecosystems that are easy to join but hard to leave, and finally “Sign up in seconds. Cancel... never.”

The Worst Service I've Ever ExperiencedI purchased a domain and email service from Namecheap on March 17th. However, when I tried to set up my email, the system informed me that the domain was already in use. That’s when the nightmare began.I contacted their customer service for the first time, and they told me to reach out to Microsoft 365 since the tenant was registered directly with Microsoft. So I contacted Microsoft, only to be told that I should go back to Namecheap—the seller of the domain.I reached out to Namecheap a second time. They created a support ticket and told me to wait 48–72 hours for a response. Days passed with no update, so I followed up via email. To my surprise, I discovered the ticket had been closed without any resolution or notification.I had to contact Namecheap once again and repeat the entire story. This has truly been the worst service I’ve ever encountered. I've reached out to them a total of 7 times with no result. I paid for a product that doesn’t work, and no one on their team has been able to resolve the issue. They even rejected my refund request.Absolutely terrible service and an extremely disappointing experience.

I trust Namecheap as my service provider. I was not able to function with Microsoft 365 app ofngs that I mistakenly paid for directly. Microsoft provides chats but they are not nearly as helpful or effective as having an expert Namecheap technician cut right through the issue and resolve the problem. I'd still be here reading instructions from Microsoft if it weren't for Namecheap.

I purchased a domain through Namecheap, only to find out later that it was transferred to another client without my permission—even though the purchase was completed properly. This caused significant losses for me, especially since the domain was central to a brand we were preparing to launch.I contacted support several times, but they were completely unhelpful. Their replies were repetitive, simply stating that they are “escalating the issue to management,” yet until now I have received no resolution, no compensation, and no clear explanation.Based on this extremely disappointing experience, I strongly advise against using Namecheap’s services. If it happened to me, it could easily happen to you—putting your business at serious risk.
